E3 Building Blocks

A: Both the 100 and 200 feature the new standardized End-to-End Electronic (E3) Components. This includes a common Heat Management Unit (HMU), Boiler Control Unit (BCU), and Telemetry Control Unit (TCU).  

In addition, the Vitodens 200 (only) features the E3 component MZIO, which supports up to 3 TT zone circuits, a BMS hardware interface and additional functions such as a Combustion Air Interface (CAI) and LLH sensor.

A: Both the Vitodens 100 and 200 Series utilize a standard HMU in order to coordinate heat distribution, communicate with system components, control DHW supply and recirculation, manage space heating demand, provide sensor connections for outside air temperature and DHW supply temperature, provide 120v power input and output. Please note, CAN-Bus and Plus-Bus connections is only supported on the Vitodens 200.

A: The BCU can be setup to operate the primary pump either with a defined fixed pump speed or with a variable pump speed following the modulation ratio

A: The TCU provides the following communication features:

  •  WiFi communication for the ViStart commissioning tool via integrated access point function
  •  Internet connectivity for ViCare and Vitoguide, and remote building management access.

A: In addition to the Vitoden 100 features, the Vitodens 200 provides the following features:

  •  7" color touch display

  •  Support for the Multi Zone Input/Output (MZIO) component

  •  Up to 3 mixed heat circuits

  •  Further installation flexibility though Plusbus accessory module support including solar module

  •  BMS communication via WAGO Gateway for BACnet and Modbus

A:

  • Zone Circuit Control
    • 3 TT contacts for interfacing up to 3 zone thermostats
      • Powers the zone thermostat with 24VAC
      • Dry contact for signaling zone heat demand
    • 3 zone pump outputs for supplying heat to up to 3 zones
  • Hardware Interface for Building Automation System (BAS)
    • External Demand Setpoint based on an AI signal (0/1 to 10 VDC)
      • Configurable as boiler temperature or burner modulation setpoint

  • Up to 3 external safety devices to be connected to DI1 - DI3
    • Dry contact of TT Inputs can be reconfigured for external safety devices

A: Yes

A: For each zone a separate and dedicated temperature level can be set. If 2 or more zones are calling for heat the highest of the set temperature level will be provided.

A: Imperial, but will be selectable during ViStart commissioning

A: In a single Vitodens 200 boiler application, the MZIO LLH sensor can only be used for LLH applications.

A: Yes, it will actually turn it on and off frequently to help purging. It will also move the internal three way valve to a mid position.

A: Most of the controls are separately and not part of the HMI.

A: Similar to today, but password protected. You won't need it as much, because the majority of the settings will be easily accessible with the variety of digital tools.

A: We have designed a new mixing valve actuator for the new Vitodens 200-W

A: The new Vitodens 100 and 200 supports one DHW circuit including recirculation pump.

A:​ The Vitodens 200 supports up to 3 mixed heatcircuits. For each of these 3 configured mixed heat circuits, a mixer modul (accessory) needs to be installed. The mixer modul communicates back to the Vitodens 200 via PlusBus. The Vitodens 100 does not support any mixed heat circuits.

A:​ Yes, each of the zone circuits can be setup to operate on a unique heating curve.

The Vitodens 200 supports the following modules (accessories connecting to the PlusBus):

  • EM-M1 (Mixed Heat Circuit - wall mounted) and EM-MX (Mixed Heat Circuit - mixer mounted)
  • EM-S1 (Solar DHW or Space Heating - wall mounted)
  • EM-P1 (Pump module configurable for Heat Circuit Pump or Circulation Pump - wall mounted)
  • EM-EA1 (External Demand Interface - wall mounted)
  • Vitotrol 200 (room controller display - wall mounted)

The Vitodens 200 provides also support for the WAGO Gateway for BACnet and Modbus BMS communication (accessory connected to the CAN bus)

 

The Vitodens 100 supports not support any of the above accessory modules

Hardware Interface For Building Automation Systems

A: For BAS communication, the WAGO Gateway (accessory on the CAN-bus) date interface needs to be used. It provides direct support for Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP and BACnet IP. Please note that an additional BACnet Router needs to be installed for BACnet MS/TP.

A: The BMS hardware interface on the MZIO provides following feedback functionality:

  • Burner Modulation Feedback based on an AO signal (0 to 10 VDC)

  • Compiled boiler fault output (Form C relay)
